Recruitment Manager

Choose who joins our Impact Accelerator Program, the step that currently limits how many people we can help.

Fully remote  ·  Full-time (part-time considered)  ·  $60,000 to $80,000 USD

Apply by Sunday, November 1

About the role

We're hiring a Recruitment Manager to own how we select participants for our programs, especially the Impact Accelerator Program (IAP).

Our capacity to select the right participants is currently what limits how many rounds of the IAP we can run. That makes this role central to more than doubling the number of people going through the program in 2027, and to scaling it beyond that.

You'll own the application process itself. With data from 10 past application rounds, you'll keep improving the balance between getting the information we need and keeping the process short and useful for applicants. You'll also support HIP's own hiring rounds so we can keep scaling our impact. This is a role with real ownership from day one, on a small, high-trust team.

What you'll do

Working closely with our Director of Programs, you'll:

  • Lead IAP selection: run the IAP's selection process and take the lead on who we offer a place, from the initial application form to reviewing applicants' recorded interviews.

  • Improve the process: use data from past application rounds to learn which selection signals actually predict strong participants and career transitions, finding the right balance between keeping the process quick for applicants and handling many more applications without losing decision quality, and with it high-impact career transitions.

  • Support HIP's own hiring rounds: run parts of HIP's hiring rounds, including screening, test tasks, interview scheduling and candidate communications, alongside the hiring manager.

  • Shape the funnel: work closely with our Director of Programs and Director of Marketing so we reach the right candidates in the first place, and the right people are selected into the program.

  • Look after candidates: make sure applicants, including the many we can't accept, have a good experience and are pointed to their best next step, such as our other programs.

What success looks like

In your first month

  • You'll get up to speed on our programs, including the IAP, our selection criteria and our tools, and get to know the team.

  • You'll understand the data from past application rounds well enough to identify improvements to the application process.

By month three

  • You'll co-run selection for the next IAP round.

  • You'll have shipped at least one improvement that makes selection faster or more accurate.

By month six

  • You'll own IAP selection end to end, and have a clear view of which signals predict successful career transitions.

  • You'll be running parts of HIP's next hiring round.

About you

We think you'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have excellent judgment about people, and can make it consistent and explainable through clear rubrics and calibration.

  • Have strong attention to detail and can manage many candidates and deadlines at once.

  • Are excited about using data to make better selection decisions, and about learning from past rounds what actually predicts success.

  • Enjoy designing processes that are quick and light for applicants while still giving us what we need to make good decisions.

  • Have strong communication skills, both within the team and with program applicants.

  • Are comfortable using (or excited to learn) AI tools like Claude Code.

  • Are excited about helping experienced professionals move into high-impact careers.

  • Work well in a remote, fast-paced, small team setting.

  • Are fluent in English.

These aren't required, but would be highly beneficial:

  • Experience in recruitment, admissions, selection or assessment, especially running high-volume processes.

  • Experience hiring for high-impact organizations.

  • Experience with AI-assisted screening or automating recruitment workflows.

  • Experience as a participant or facilitator of the IAP or a similar program.

Not sure you tick every box? We'd still love to hear from you. Many excellent candidates will bring other strengths and experiences that make them a great fit for this role.

We're committed to building a diverse team and especially encourage candidates from backgrounds that are underrepresented in our field to apply. If you're excited about our mission, please don't hesitate to throw your hat in the ring!

About High Impact Professionals

High Impact Professionals (HIP) is an international nonprofit that helps experienced professionals use their careers to work on the world's most pressing problems. We've helped more than 140 professionals move into high-impact roles and facilitated more than $5 million in counterfactual impact. Our 2025 impact report has the detail.

More funding is coming into high-impact work, and organizations are hiring faster than they planned to. Since 2025 our team has grown from 2 to 5 staff, and over the next two years we plan to grow to around 14, run twice as many rounds of the IAP with twice as many participants in each, launch new programs, and support hundreds of career transitions a year.

Impact Accelerator Program. Structured career transition support that has helped over 100 experienced professionals move into high-impact roles, joining organizations like GiveWell, Epoch AI, MATS, Rethink Priorities and Shrimp Welfare Project, founding high-impact charities, or serving on the boards of impactful nonprofits. We've grown it from 19 participants in 2023 to 350 in 2026, while only doubling the team size.

Talent Directory. Over 5,500 professionals keen to join high-impact organizations. Since May 2026 our automated matching has supported over 120 organizations with around 350 roles, and the directory has helped over 30 professionals land a role at a high-impact organization.

Pledge Club. We've inspired over 130 professionals to take a giving pledge, including 39 🔸10% Pledges, representing millions in future donations to high-impact causes.

We've done this with a remote team that was just 1.6 FTE until this year, supported by a community of IAP alumni facilitators and partners and an increasingly automated operations stack. Your work here will have real counterfactual impact, and your contribution will be visible from day one.

HIP was incubated through Ambitious Impact's Charity Entrepreneurship program in 2021 and has since received funding from organizations like Coefficient Giving and EA Funds, as well as individual donors.
